How to use Directed Sessions to start and control in-person programs and sessions.

Unlike regular automated sessions that run remotely, Directed Sessions are designed to be initiated and guided in-person in a physical location like a medical clinic.

Directed Sessions can be integrated into programs that include remote sessions, so your programs may be entirely Directed Sessions, Remote Sessions, or any combination of the two.

Directed Sessions do not include automated reminders or direct communications with patients. They are used when a patient is located in the same physical location as the person administering or directing the session.

Example 1: A doctor creates a program for post-surgical recovery and want's the patient to complete the first session in the hospital and all other sessions at home. The program would begin with a Directed Session that was administered by a nurse or care coordinator, and continue with automated sessions at home.

Example 2: A researcher has a study that combines in-lab sessions (Directed Sessions) and at-home sessions (Remote Sessions). The study participant begins the study with a Directed Session in the lab, then receives a text or email link to a Remote Session at home. They complete the Program with a final Directed Session when they come back into the lab.

To enable/disable Directed Sessions:

  1. Go to: Settings > Program Settings > Enable Directed Sessions

Enabling will allow you to include Directed Sessions in your programs.

To start a Directed Session:

Directed sessions are not remote, and need to be initiated by you or a team member from either your Dashboard or Contacts.

  1. Go to: Contacts > individual you want to start a session for
  2. Select Directed Session from the available options
